From Jamaica to Your Table: A Journey of Flavor and Service
Our story begins in Jamaica, where founder Dave Richards grew up surrounded by the aromas of bold spices and the warmth of true island hospitality. In his grandmother’s kitchen, he learned recipes passed down through generations—and developed a love for the soulful flavors that make Jamaican food unforgettable.
In the early ’90s, Dave came to the U.S. for college. When money got tight, he joined the Army to earn his education, beginning what became a 28-year career of honor, discipline, and service. Along the way, he met Veronica, a fellow soldier from California who shared his commitment to service, family, and good food. Together, they dreamed of bringing the taste of Jamaica to their community.
That dream became Island Spice Jamaican Restaurant. From slow-cooked curry goat to Boston-style jerk chicken, every dish is crafted with patience, pride, and spices sourced straight from the island. “The secret to good Jamaican food,” Dave says, “is simple—you take your time, you use real herbs, and you cook with love.”
Today, Island Spice has grown into one of the largest Caribbean restaurants west of the Mississippi, a veteran-owned business built on dedication and heart. Whether you’re discovering Jamaican cuisine for the first time or craving the flavors of home, we’ll welcome you like family—no passport required.
